Meet Michelle

Michelle is a Chartered Physiotherapists and certified Mummy MOT practitioner. She has 15 years experience treating a range of musculoskeletal conditions and specialises in Sports Injuries and Womens Pelvic Health. Michelle set up her private practice ‘Rebuild and Thrive’ in 2017 and has enjoyed working with the local community across East Hampshire. She has delivered several injury prevention lectures for local running and triathlon clubs, presented training for local GP practices and chatted to new and expecting mums providing educational talks on their postnatal recovery with groups such as NCT.

Michelle’s career has included 10 years working for the military including working at Headley Court, with Complex Trauma patients progressing their rehabilitation to restore function and being the clinical lead physiotherapist for the South west group based in Winchester. She qualified from Southampton University in 2007 and completed her rotations within the NHS then gained further experience in sports physiotherapy working 5 seasons with Chelsea Football Club. She is currently undergoing further studies towards an MSc in Advanced Manipulative Physiotherapy.

 

Her proudest achievement is growing the human that is her cheeky daughter but prior to this her it was training service personnel to recover from traumatic war injuries to a level of fitness that enabled them to compete in competitive sports including Ironman triathlons! She was a founding member of the triathlon club for injured service personnel called “Team True Spirit’ (TTS). She continues to volunteer for TTS charity. Many of Michelle’s patients have pursued careers in competitive sport including; GB representatives and Paralympian’s. 


Michelle is also the proud co-founder of FLY Mama which is an online platform that supports mum’s physical mental and emotional wellbeing throughout motherhood and following perinatal trauma and loss. Michelle works directly with the women that need her whilst also working with charities and employers to see how they can benefit FLY Mama’s support.

As well as relating to male and female athletes Michelle recognises the wide range of issues, complications and niggles which affect mums’ bodies during and after pregnancy. She is a mum and loves staying active with her baby girl and her dog. Motherhood has lead to some adaptions to training and she has recently swopped her road bike for a more family friendly mountain bike with baby trailer!

Her relaxed approach and friendly professional manner make clients feel comfortable, at ease and empowered. Advanced training in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and specifically pelvic health enables Michelle to quickly asses and diagnose, providing hands on treatment together with expert and practical advice. She can also tailor unique rehabilitation plan in line with your goals wether that be training towards an Ironaman triatholon, having a painfree commute to work, or your a mums’ wanting to return to a functional fitness. Michelle is also a qualified APPI trained pilates instructor and enjoys teaching group and 121 sessions.

 

Whatever your physical ambitions, Michelle is dedicated to helping you recover from injuries and prevent future problems to ensure you achieve your own personal goals.
